Hello World! - What Does Music Mean For You?

Heather "H" Joyner

Now, I know what you’re thinking - another music blog. Yes, there were around 504 million blog sites available on the Internet by the end of 2021, according to hostingtribunal.com, but the elusive music blog in particular has a reputation for self-entitlement and bias. In most cases, it goes one of two ways - we’ve all seen the lesser-known indie acts being side-lined for “the main event”, the ‘in’ thing, by voices depended on by readers to represent all realms of the world of music. Or maybe you’ve touched upon the deliberately niche “poseur” sites; makeshift Tumblr blogs set up by angsty alt pre-teens across the globe, who decided they were a modern reincarnation of Joan Jett on their 13th birthday.

I’d be lying if I said I understood the whole business. I mean, I might go a little bit feral when I hear an Oasis track over the supermarket radio on a weeknight, but at least my heart is in it. It’s not a fad, a bid for public attention. This is me.

But what does music mean to you? Is it an escape from the everyday? Is it a way to focus on your passions or projects? Is it entertainment? Guidance? Solace? What would you expect from the ideal music blog, compared to these meaningless stereotypes?

On TMM, we want what you want - variety. We won’t mindlessly gaze across the week’s charts, pick a random tune and be off with it. We want the flavour, everything the music industry has to offer - good or bad. There’ll be reviews of the albums, tracks and gigs that your average music blogs ignore, the best kept secrets you won’t find anywhere else. There’ll be advice pieces, from concert prep to keeping your playlists in check, feeding you the info you need for wherever your passion for music will take you. There’ll be opinions and debates on events, controversies and everything in between, carrying on the discussion when others won’t.

This isn't your average music blog. This is real.
