The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival returned after a two year hiatus from April 15th-17th and 22nd-24th 2022, featuring some of the industry's biggest stars and lesser known gems.
Controversy circled the festival's comeback before preparation in California had even begun, with Sunday headliner Kanye West dropping out of the event only two weeks before it was due to go ahead.
Many 'Ye' fans joked that the reason for the rapper's withdrawal could have been to do with his feud with comedian Pete Davidson, who announced his relationship with West's ex-wife Kim Kardashian last November.
Once the festival began, there was only one act on every one's minds: Harry Styles. The Friday 15th and 22nd headline act drew public attention straight away during his second performance, having recently debuted new single 'As It Was' and announced his third solo album Harry's House, due for release on May 20th.
Other standout sets were performed by indie rock artist Phoebe Bridgers, 'Call Me Maybe' star Carly Rae Jepsen and K-pop veterans Epik High.
Despite an embarrassing stage fall before performing her song 'Getting Older' on Saturday 23rd, the crowd were impressed by Billie Eilish's energetic performances and guest duets with past collaborator Khalid and pop-punk legend Hayley Williams.
Other highly celebrated performances throughout the Saturday line-up were provided by popular rapper Megan Thee Stallion, Gen Z alt-rock hero Conan Gray and even an eerie show by Tim Burton-approved film composer Danny Elfman!
West's failure to attend the Sunday leg of the show didn't lower spirits; house icons Swedish House Mafia performed with hip-hop sensation The Weeknd in a phenomenal closing set.
Following the release of his smash hit fifth album Dawn FM in January, The Weeknd's ability to get the crowd moving proved to work wonders at the final day of Coachella, creating excitement over the singer's upcoming tour beginning in July.
